OpenClassrooms - IT Technician

As an IT technician, we are expected to install and deploy the components of an IT estate, keep it running in operational and secure conditions, support users, and automate tasks.

Level 5 diploma (equivalent to a 2-year degree after secondary school)9 months full-time843 supervised hours

As an IT Technician, what are your responsibilities?

You are a key player in keeping the company's digital environment running smoothly. You install equipment, configure networks, automate recurring tasks and provide effective user support. Your role is both technical, responsive and service-oriented. You will also need to:

  • Understand users' priorities and propose pragmatic solutions;
  • Demonstrate rigour, teaching skills, curiosity and adaptability;
  • Incorporate cybersecurity, sustainability and digital accessibility considerations into your practices.

Typical responsibilities you may undertake:

  • Deploy an automated IT estate (end-user devices, servers, configurations)
  • Install, secure and maintain a local network (wired and Wi-Fi)
  • Manage an Active Directory domain (accounts, permissions, GPOs, network services)
  • Ensure monitoring and maintenance of an IT estate
  • Handle user requests and provide first-line/second-line support in line with ITIL best practice
  • Write and keep technical documentation up to date
  • Work in on-premises, cloud or hybrid environments
